Where to Live as a Teikyo University Student (Hachioji Campus)

Teikyo University's Hachioji Campus is about a 15-minute walk from Otsuka-Teikyodaigaku Station. Here are the 15 cheapest stations within roughly 30 minutes* of it, sorted by studio rent. Balancing rent and commute time is the key to a comfortable first apartment in Tokyo — start your search from this list.

Where do students actually live?

Teikyo University splits its students across two very different campuses: Itabashi, home to the three medical-related faculties (Medicine, Pharmacy, and Medical Technology), and Hachioji, home to the liberal arts faculties (Economics, Law, Letters, Foreign Languages, Education). This page covers the Hachioji campus only — it won't apply if you're heading into a medical faculty at Itabashi.

Around Hachioji, the real favorite is the area near Otsuka-Teikyo-Daigaku Station on the Tama Toshi Monorail, about a 12-minute walk from campus. It's a student-town-like area shared with students from Chuo University and Meisei University nearby, with relatively modest rents. Some students commute by bus from Tama Center or Seiseki-Sakuragaoka stations instead.

The ranking below includes the neighboring "Chuo University/Meisei University" stop, but Otsuka-Teikyo-Daigaku Station itself — the one carrying the university's name — doesn't appear on it. Use the rent level around Otsuka-Teikyo-Daigaku as your baseline, then check the ranking for nearby alternatives.

In Japan there are often only a few weeks between acceptance and the start of term. A furnished apartment cuts both the setup work and the upfront costs, so you can start student life right away. See the Housing Guide (furnished / share house / standard rental) →
