Where to Live as a Josai University Student (Sakado Campus)

Josai University's Sakado Campus is reached by bus from Sakado Station. Here are the 15 cheapest stations within roughly 30 minutes* of it, sorted by studio rent. Balancing rent and commute time is the key to a comfortable first apartment in Tokyo — start your search from this list.

Where do students actually live?

At Josai University, every faculty except the Mathematical Information Science department (based at the Tokyo Kioicho campus) spends all four years at the Sakado campus in Saitama, with no mid-course relocation. The official nearest station is Kawakado on the Tobu Ogose Line, about a 10-minute walk away.

In practice, though, the area around Kawakado is little more than a small station front, so many students choose to live near Sakado Station instead — a transfer point with the Tojo Line and a proper town center. A university-designated dormitory, said to house more Josai students than any other, sits about three minutes' walk from Sakado's south exit. Shuttle buses also run from stations further afield, such as Komagawa and Hanno.

Sakado (ranked 10th) and Komagawa (ranked 14th) both appear in the ranking below, but Kawakado, the official nearest station, doesn't. Keep the real-world choice in mind — Kawakado for proximity, Sakado for town convenience — and use the ranking as a supporting reference.

Short on time between results day and move-in?

In Japan there are often only a few weeks between acceptance and the start of term. A furnished apartment cuts both the setup work and the upfront costs, so you can start student life right away. See the Housing Guide (furnished / share house / standard rental) →
