Where to Live as a Dokkyo University Student

Dokkyo University is about a 5-minute walk from Dokkyodaigakumae-Sokamatsubara Station. Here are the 15 cheapest stations within roughly 30 minutes* of it, sorted by studio rent. Balancing rent and commute time is the key to a comfortable first apartment in Tokyo — start your search from this list.

Where do students actually live?

Dokkyo University operates a single "all-in-one campus" in Soka City, Saitama, where every faculty and every year of study shares the same site — there's no relocation to speak of.

The real favorite is Dokkyo-Daigaku-mae (Soka-Matsubara) Station, about a five-minute walk from campus. The west exit opens onto Comfort Matsubara, a redeveloped residential area that still carries the tree-lined greenery of the old Matsubara Danchi housing estate — more a quiet, established neighborhood than a lively student town. Some students say one-room housing tends to cluster in this Matsubara Danchi/Soka area, though plenty of others commute from their family home instead.

Neighboring Soka Station (ranked 8th) appears in the ranking below, but Dokkyo-Daigaku-mae Station itself, right at the campus gate, doesn't appear on it. Use the rent level around Dokkyo-Daigaku-mae/Matsubara Danchi as your baseline, then check Soka from the ranking as well.

Short on time between results day and move-in?

In Japan there are often only a few weeks between acceptance and the start of term. A furnished apartment cuts both the setup work and the upfront costs, so you can start student life right away. See the Housing Guide (furnished / share house / standard rental) →
